Fieldbus technology - we're already there

ABB fieldbus devices and systems provide a high degree of interoperability allowing the end user the freedom to select not only the most suitable devices but also the most appropriate fieldbus for the application at hand. We understand that it is not enough just to supply the field measuring and control devices with a scalable system. We know that other devices are also required to help optimize a fieldbus installation and provide a complete solution for the Chemical Industries.

We are making sure you get the best:

  • Full range of fieldbus instrumentation
  • Seamless integration with ABB systems
  • Integrated and stand-alone engineering tools
  • Full conformance to fieldbus standards

ABB fieldbus solutions deliver:
  • Ease of use and maintenance
  • Reduced wiring costs
  • Reduced peripheral equipment costs (marshalling cabinets etc)
  • Reduced engineering & planning costs

Asset Management
Fieldbus solutions facilitate the optimal usage of your assets:
  • Automatic monitoring of maintenance conditions and automatic alarms
  • Plant-wide adoption of predictive and pro-active maintenance strategies
  • Consistent reporting of plant asset health status
  • Reduced time to repair through optimized work processes

Hazardous environments
The Multi barrier allows the intrinsically save supply of power for field devices. Additionally the barrier simplifies installation by taking power directly from the fieldbus segment and removing the need for a separate power supply.

ABB - delivering the vision
We are an active driving force at many levels within key areas of fieldbus policy directions and technical standard development. ABB actively participates in the executive oversight, technical steering and the ongoing development of these standards. In these capacities, ABB’s objective is to ensure that the end users’ desire for true interoperability between devices and systems - and the associated applications are not compromised.

Unlike many companies, ABB has implemented support for the major international fieldbusses in its automation systems. ABB uses EDDL based technologies provided by the various foundations (HCF, PNO, FF) in its systems and intelligent field devices. In addition, ABB uses the open FDT/DTM technology to integrate sophisticated device applications, like valve diagnosis and multivariable transmitters that cannot be accomplished with EDDL technologies alone.
